oh my...

The plot I have been assigned is roughly 8x12, 10x15, I don't know, all I know is I was told I get approximately 165 square feet to work with.  I'm not trying to do math, I'm trying to grow food.  Oh the things I can do in that space... 

I got the code to the gate at the garden so in my excitement I decided to walk over and check out my precious little plot of land and dream about all the things I'll do and grow but I was not prepared for what I found: 165 square feet of pure weeds!

How on earth will a garden novice like me ever successfully tackle these weeds?!  I'm now uncertain I will ever enjoy any of those tomatoes I have been dreaming of; I may never get this garden shaped up enough to plant.  Did I mention Portland Parks and Rec has some pretty stringent rules for these gardens?  Organic, organic, organic is rule number one.  I'm fine with that, it's how I want to garden anyway, but I have to confess there is a small part of me that is trying to figure out how I can sneak some weed killer in here!
